Project Servator deployed at Solihull Moors for first time

Solihull Editorial 1st Dec, 2024   0

SPECIALLY trained police officers were out in force at Solihull Moors football ground for the first time.

Football fans who attended the Moor’s match against Hartlepool will have seen an increased number of police officers inside and outside the ground as West Midlands Police deployed Project Servator.

The operation was used to keep football fans and those working at the ground safe.

Although it’s the first time Project Servator officers have been deployed to Solihull Moors, the tactic has been used on match days in the region including at Villa Park and Molineux.

Project Servator is designed to disrupt criminal activity up to and including terrorism. Deployments are made up of highly visible patrols as well as police dogs, drones and vehicle checkpoints.

West Midlands Police also use resources fans couldn’t see too, such as plain clothes officers and CCTV operators.

PC Rob Rumney from the Project Servator team in Solihull said: “We’re pleased to have carried out our first Project Servator deployment at Solihull Moors last weekend and we had a really good response from fans who were very receptive to seeing officers keeping them safe on match day.

“We also carry out Project Servator deployments across the wider Solihull borough so if you see more police officers while you’re out and about this winter, don’t be alarmed. We can deploy anywhere, at any time, but we are always happy for you to pop over for a chat and find out more about what we’re doing.”
