Solihull Apprenticeship Show opens the door to career paths for all

NEARLY 2,000 young people and parents learned about local opportunities from employers and training providers at the Solihull Apprenticeship Show.

Apprenticeships at all levels, and entry level work opportunities showcased the wide variety of career paths for young people.

A range of employers and training providers across various sectors including construction, creative, digital, engineering and healthcare were on hand to talk to visitors.

Exhibitors included UHB NHS, Rolls-Royce, Network Rail and Avanti, Solihull College and University Centre, National Grid, Creative Alliance, BritAsia Academy, Nova Training and Solihull Council.

The Mayor of Solihull, Coun Shahin Ashraf MBE, said: “It was such a brilliant event and we’ve seen so many different businesses.

It was great for employers and training providers to get together and help young people to understand what apprenticeships are like.

“There are so many different directions that young people can take with their future careers. You don’t have to be academic.

“You can use your hands-on skills and build experience through learning at work. I’d like to thank all the companies and organisations who took part for showing young people the wide range of career options available to them locally.”

Coun Ian Courts, Leader of Solihull Council, said: “Youth employment has always been one of my priorities.

“Events like this help make young people aware of the opportunities on offer.

“The numbers attending reflect just how keen our young people are to find out about apprenticeships.

“It was a great opportunity for businesses to connect with young people in the borough.”

The Solihull Apprenticeship Show was organised by Solihull Careers Hub which is part of the Council’s Employment and Skills team.

Solihull Careers Hub supports schools and colleges in delivering the best careers provision for young people.

The next show will take place on January 29 2025 at the North Solihull Sports Centre.
