A SOLIHULL school is celebrating International Walk to School Month this October, as young people around the globe are asked to find the joy in walking to school.
Learners and staff members from Lyndon School have been encouraged to make the journey in on foot and one Year 10 girl has made an extra effort to make sure everyone knows the benefits of walking.
Elizabeth has designed a poster to demonstrate all the ways that walking to school can help not only people, but the environment.
It outlines how walking is good for you physically and mentally, as well as how it can be a social activity.
She also highlighted how less cars on the road creates less air pollution and makes the streets safer.
Living Streets, the UK’s walking charity, supports the awareness month and is calling on people to take part in their Autumn Streets Safari by taking a few minutes on the walk to school to collect special items and celebrate autumn with some fun activities.
Head of the school, Syreeta Kapswara said: “I want to say a big thank you to Elizabeth for her wonderful poster and for encouraging us all to walk to school this month.
“At Lyndon School we are proud of all of our Active Travel Ambassadors who do so much to promote sustainable travel.
“Their enthusiasm makes such a difference and I know their work will continue to ensure that more staff members and learners pick up healthy habits.”
