STAFF and residents at Barchester’s Fountains care home in Solihull have been marking Breast Cancer Day by taking part in a range of different activities to promote awareness of the signs and symptoms to look out for.
Breast Cancer Day took place last Friday (October 18), with the idea behind the day is to raise awareness of the serious nature of Breast Cancer in men and women.
For those that have experienced a Breast Cancer this day aims to give support for survivors and caregivers.
The staff and residents took part in wearing Pink to help raise awareness of Breast Cancer, along with a gentle exercise class to highlight the need to stay active and look after yourself.
They also held a coffee morning in which others come could and talk about their own or others experiences.
Staff then talked about the signs and symptoms to look out for and what to do if you think you or someone else is experiencing any signs.
General Manager, Sara King, said: “Breast Cancer can happen at any time.
“Breast Cancer Day is a really important awareness day to remind us all to watch out for the signs and symptoms and to seek professional help.
“We have all worn pink and shown our support to help raise awareness and eaten lots of cake too – that’s also important.”
