Top volunteering award for cricket stalwart Roger Lewis

THE CHAIRMAN of a Solihull cricket club picked up a national volunteering award at Lord’s Cricket Ground last week in recognition of his contribution to community sport.

Roger Lewis was runner-up in the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) ‘Heartbeat of the Club’ category at the NatWest Outstanding Services to Cricket (OSCA) Awards. The ‘Heartbeat’ award is for a special volunteer that a club could not do without and often engaged in a many activities across the club.

Roger has served as chairman of Solihull Blossomfield Cricket Club for the past 20 years and was nominated for the ‘OSCA’ by Warwickshire Cricket Board.

He said: “I am thrilled and delighted to be a national runner up, and it was great to rub shoulders with so many cricketing legends last week.”




Hosting the Lords’ event was Jonathan ‘Aggers’ Agnew. Cricketing stars and celebrities attending the ceremony included Andrew Strauss, Mike Gatting, Eoin Morgan, Charlotte Edwards and Katherine Brunt plus Jim Carter from Downton Abbey.
