GREAT Britain swimmers Amy Smith and Joe Roebuck took a splash with local swimmers after giving a special master class session for members of Solihull Swimming Club (SSC).

Both competed in the London Olympic Games two years ago and most recently at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The pair gave a session that lasted over three hours at the club on September 21 and included stroke drills, turns and finishes as well as passing on information about a healthy diet and nutrition.

Advice and tips were also passed on and both Smith and Roebuck also signed photographs and had their pictures taken with the group.

Elsewhere, the club’s head coach, Dean Barguss, has gained a place on the West Midlands Coach Development Scheme.

The programme includes workshops over ten months and working with a Level four mentor who will attend some club sessions to observe and support.

The aim of the programme is to expand the knowledge of coaches and influence their behaviour to better support their swimmers.
