Solihull pupils on point at shooting competition

Solihull Editorial 7th Oct, 2015 Updated: 21st Oct, 2016   0

SOLIHULL School’s female shooting team shot their way to victory, taking first place at the Heart of England Young Shooters Championships at Hereford and Worcester Shooting Ground.

Competing against teams from Warwick, Millfield, Hereford & Worcester, Hartpury and Kings High School, Lauren Packham, Vini Vinod, Lydia Stephens and Odille Webbe performed extremely well, facing a stretching course with a series of challenging targets.

Captain Lauren Packham also claimed first place in the Ladies High Gun category for the second year in succession, triumphing against the lead shooter from Kings High School in a shoot off.

The Solihull School male team were also successful, taking an overall fourth place in the team competition.

Dawn Parker, shooting teacher at Solihull School, said: “Our ladies and gentlemen were a credit to the school. Not only did they shoot fantastically but I also received compliments on their behaviour and etiquette.

“As well as the exciting shoot off for first place which was won by our captain Lauren, Vini and Lydia were also involved in a shoot off for third place – with Vini taking the position by a single shot. They should all be extremely proud of themselves and I look forward to seeing how they fare in competitions throughout the year.”
