SOLIHULL Blossomfield Ladies’ second team were unable to taking their winning from into Saturday’s encounter against Edgbaston after falling to a 4-1 defeat.
The winning streak had lasted three weeks but it came to an abrupt end in what was the team’s final game before the Christmas break.
Both teams fielded strong line-ups but it was the visitors who dominated in the centre of the park and capitalised on the pace up front.
Edgbaston took a 2-0 lead into half-time but Blossomfield responded well and got themselves back into the match when Ellen Bleumer put the finishing touches to a clever short corner routine.
The balance of the game could have gone either way, but Edgbaston pounced first and scored a third goal which all but ended any hopes of a second half fightback.
To their credit Blossomfield continued to search for a goal but it was Edgbaston who scored again before the final whistle to wrap up a 4-1 win, although it was a closer match than the scoreline suggests.
