MOORS opened up their pre-season campiang with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at home to Oxford United on Saturday.

In the first half Solihull gave an early showing for new signings Nathan Vaughan, Jamey Osborne and Harry White whilst Oxford had on display the impressive Dan Crowley, who has joined them on a years’ loan from Arsenal.

In the first 45 minutes there were few chances but Osborne, playing deep in midfield was interlinking well with Darryl Knights and Ryan Beswick whilst Harry white looked comfortable up front with Akwasi Asante.

The best chance of the half fell to George Jeacock who took advantage of a poor back pass by Connor Franklin but Vaughan was quick off his line to make the save.

Both Managers completely changed their teams for the second half and Marcus Bignot introduced four trialists.

Oxford edged the play with Ruffels sending low drive goalwards on 47 minutes but he failed to trouble Danny Lewis and Roberts saw an effort blocked

The breakthrough for the visitors came on 54 minutes when MacDonald put a quality pass through to Wes Thomas who produced a delightful chip over Lewis for the opening goal.

Thomas might have doubled the deficit from MacDonald’s free kick on the hour mark while Welch – Hayes went close as he raced down the left flank.

That said, Moors looked comfortable and it was no more than they deserved when Lewis Hayden got the equaliser on 67 minutes when he crossed from the left catching keeper Eastwood off guard as the ball drifted into the far corner of the net.
