HENLEY-in-Arden racer Mat Jackson produced one of the best performances of his career to take his second race win of the season at the home of British motorsport.

The BTCC driver Jackson was able to reap the rewards at Silverstone over the weekend taking a third place followed by a fourth place but finishing with a win in the penultimate race of Sunday’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship

The weekend started well for Jackson with the Airwaves man securing a second row start with a joint best qualifying result of P4 for Sunday’s opening race.

Expectations were high in the team with Silverstone having been a happy hunting ground for the Motorbase Ford in recent years and race 1 thankfully delivered.

Mat’s blistering start off the line saw his #6 Focus charge straight past his rivals and slot into P3 as the pack headed into Copse.

Mat then set his sights on closing the gap on the race leaders and battled hard for the second spot narrowly missing out by just over a tenth of second to claim another welcome podium – his fourth of the season.

Race two was a slightly more subdued affair with Mat holding out for a notable P4 finish.

But in the final race of the day Jackson charged up into second before claiming the race lead just as the safety car was deployed for an incident at the back of the pack.

On the re-start Jackson got the hammer down and was able to establish a gap between himself and the rest of the field and then it was just about keeping his concentration and making it to the end of the race which he did, eventually crossing the line with a lead of over two and a half seconds.

“It’s been a great weekend.” said Jackson. “To come here and get a win, a third and a fourth is fantastic.

“The last race was absolutely awesome and probably one of the best that I’ve ever had at Silverstone. It was just awesome.

“The car’s gone well again here again, the Focus seems to go well here and it’s a track that I like and it’s been good to us again this weekend.

“I’m delighted for the team to come here and the car’s been absolutely faultless once again. The pace has been in there and it was a dream to drive. Hopefully we can take that same car to Brands now and we’ll be back in the same position.”

Jackson mow lies fourth in the driver’s standings and will be looking forward to the season finale which takes place on the team’s home track Brands Hatch in two weeks’ time.
