AS THE PARALYMPIC games have drawn to a close Tudor Grange Leisure Centre will be celebrating Great Britain’s sporting success at the annual Solihull Gets Active Games on September 28.

The games – which have been spearheaded by Solihull Active – aim to encourage adults with disabilities to get involved in activities.

Parkwood Leisure, Bromford Housing, Solihull Community Housing and brain injury charity Headway are among the long-list of charities across the borough preparing to get into the sporting spirit.

There will be plenty of opportunities for participants to get stuck in and try their hand at a number of sports – including archery, martial arts and racket ball just to name a few.

Coaches from various sports clubs will also be offering advice and talking about the vast opportunities available in Solihull.

Cabinet Member for Stronger Communities & Partnerships, Coun Tony Dicicco said: “This is a great opportunity for people with disabilities to try something new, get active and have fun socialising in a sporting environment.

“With the excellent achievements of the British Paralympians in Rio it is a great time to get involved!”

The event will start at 10.30am and run until 2.30pm.

Participants must be aged 16 and over.
