MUCH-NEEDED funding for a borough Scout group has helped provide a replacement minibus.

Following the news in April that the group’s trusty T reg bus from 1999 was ready for the scrapyard, the 1st Knowle Scouts set about an ambitious plan to raise £15,000 to purchase a replacement minibus.

Courtesy of a positive response from the local community, the group has achieved their target – just in time for Christmas.

The Scout Group sold multiple hanging baskets throughout the summer and even formed a Scout Band to play carols in their local shopping centre.

Various charitable trusts including The Rank Foundation, Knowle & Dorridge Round Table and The William Cadbury Trust with various contributions.

Piers Bennett, the group Scout leader extended his thanks to everyone who has made this possible.

He added: “We have been astonished by the continuing generosity of individuals and charitable trusts.

“Once again trusts, charity’s and organisations have given so generously to our fundraising campaign.”

The group, which celebrated their centenary several years ago, provides adventures for 150 boys and girls between the ages of six to 18.
