A SOLIHULL family is campaigning to improve the safety of Warwick Road after a family relative was killed in a traffic collision.

Viji Vijay will be meeting with the Highway Services and Police Investigating team on Monday (February 8) to discuss how the layout of the road can be improved at a second hearing.

A website was created by campaigners in November 2015 by the family of Mr Dwarkanath to highlight the issues of road safety.

Furthermore, a Facebook and Twitter handle has been created with an online petition that has gained the signature of over 220 in just a week.

At an inquest hearing held in December 2015, the Coroner reserved her judgement and directed the Highway Services and Police Investigating team to engage with the family and reassess safety measures on Warwick Road.

Solihull MP Julian Knight met the family on November 20 2015 where he expressed his willingness to support the family’s campaign and the cause for improving safety measures on Warwick Road.

MP Julian Knight said: “This is a very sad case.

“As the constituency MP, I visited the family in their home and ensured that a member of my staff attended the inquest.

“I have taken up the family’s concerns with the Highways Officials at Solihull Borough Council with the aim of finding a way forward which should bring some closure to the family of Mr Dwarkanath.”
