IT WAS smiles all round as a borough couple welcomed their own little princess into the world last Saturday (May 2).

As the Duchess of Cambridge and Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana stole the headlines and the news cameras, Amy Shephard was making baby news of her own at the Heart of England Hospital.

The 30-year-old primary school teacher welcomed second daughter, Ivy Elizabeth Shephard, to the family at 12.46pm via water birth.

Weighing in at a healthy 8lbs 8oz after just four hours of labour, baby Ivy joins her big sister – two-and-a-half year old Robyn – in the ever-growing Shephard brood.

Data Analyst father, Nick, said he was delighted by the family’s newest arrival, adding: “It’s nice to have a baby born on the same day as a Royal baby, as when she grows up we’ll be able to tell her that she shares a birthday with the princess.”

But it’s not just a birthday that the two baby girls share – both have Elizabeth as a middle name, after their mothers’ middle names.
