Silhillians urged to get knitting for Age UK

Solihull Editorial 5th Aug, 2015 Updated: 21st Oct, 2016   0

NIMBLE-fingered residents across the borough are being called upon once again to knit the little bobble hats for the top of innocent smoothie bottles to raise money Age UK.

Now in its 12th year, The Big Knit once again will see innocent drinks committing to donate 25p per hat to the charity to help keep Silhillians warm this winter.

The hats submitted to them will adorn innocent smoothie bottles, which will be sold in stores nationwide from February 2016.

Anne Hastings, Chief Officer at Age UK Solihull, said: “The colder months of the year can be really tough for many older people who can face difficulties protecting themselves from the harsh winter weather, getting out and about and staying connected.

“That’s why it’s so important that local knitters get behind The Big Knit to help raise funds for vital local winter services.

“We need knitters in Solihull to create lots of miniature hats so we can help older people in the local area to stay warm and safe this winter.”
