POLICE are urging witnesses to come forward after a man was stabbed in a Chelmsley Wood alley and left for dead.

The 22-year-old was attacked by a group of young men in an alleyway off Crabtree Drive on the afternoon of Saturday, April 25.

He was rushed to hospital for treatment to multiple stab wounds and remained in intensive care for several days and continues to recover at home.

DC Neil Wilson, from the violent crime team of Force CID in Chelmsley Wood, said: “This young man is very lucky to be alive. He suffered multiple serious stab and slash wounds and needed significant medical treatment following the attack last month.

“We know that there was a large group of young men, some on bikes, who surrounded the victim in the area of Crabtree Drive and Glovers Croft before attacking him and fleeing as he lay injured on the ground.

“The attack occurred following an earlier confrontation between members of the group and the victim. We believe the local community must know who is responsible.

“We want to hear from anyone who was there or who knows who was involved.”

Anyone with information should contact the Violent Crime Team at Chelmsley Wood on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
