Observer team take on It's a Knockout for beloved local charity

THE OBSERVER team are preparing to put down their pens and take part in It’s a Knockout to raise vital funds for Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice.

As official media partners to the beloved Coventry charity, our journalists will be donning their trainers and tackling the infamous 1970s assault course in aid of the hospice.

It’s a Knockout has been organised by Zoë’s Place to coincide with the charity’s annual Summer Fayre on June 18.

Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice offers respite and palliative care to infants aged from birth to five years old who are suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

But the hospice is in desperate need of funds to continue to its vital work.

And as Zoë’s Place receives no Government funding, it is entirely reliant on donations from kind-hearted local residents.

£700 will provide 28 hours of nursing care for a sick baby at Zoë’s Place, but our journalists want to go above and beyond – aiming to raise £1,000 in just over two weeks.

Observer journalist and It’s a Knockout team leader, Shaun Reynolds, said: “Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice is an incredibly worthwhile cause, and has helped so many families across the city and the region through some of their toughest times.

“So, when we heard the charity was in need of funds, we only thought it right to get stuck in and do our bit to help.

“It will all be a bit of fun on the day, but we hope to raise as much as we can – hopefully with the help of our readers – to help the staff at Zoë’s Place keep doing their amazing work.”

It’s a Knockout will take place from 11am until 4pm on Saturday, June 18 on Exhall Grange Playing Fields, opposite Zoë’s Place Baby Hospice.
