SOLIHULL MP, Julian Knight, is on the hunt for Solihull’s favourite local business.
Launching his ‘Best Local Shop’ competition, Mr Knight is hoping to raise the profile of some of the borough’s lesser-known local shops, cafes and stores.
And with the nominations already open, the Conservative MP says he has been ‘inundated’ with suggestions varying from beauty salons, children’s clothing stores, curry houses, pubs, cafes, butchers and greengrocers.
Nominations will close at the end of the month, with all nominated businesses promised a personal letter from Mr Knight and cards to give to customers encouraging them to vote.
Speaking of the inspiration behind the competition, Julian said: “This is a way to get the word out about our fantastic local shops and businesses, a way to tell our local entrepreneurs how much we appreciate them.
“I’ve been overwhelmed with messages from across Solihull, and I’ve really been struck by how much people are proud of their locals, from shops to restaurants to pubs.
“Our local businesses are a massive part of our identity as a town, and I want to see support for them.”
