Mock emergency at Bentley heath level crossing this weekend - don't be alarmed

DON’T be alarmed – that is the message from the emergency planning teams at Solihull, Coventry and Warwickshire councils as they prepare for a mock emergency at Bentley Heath level crossing this weekend.

The authorities will be closing down Mill Lane from 8am to 4pm on Sunday as part for an emergency planning exercise called ‘Exercise Cape’, which aims to test how the various emergency services respond to a serious incident.

Residents may well see ‘injured’ volunteers being put into ambulances and other emergency vehicles attending the incident, but they can be reassured any injuries will be fake!

The Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull Emergency Planning Team undertakes events such as Sunday’s Exercise Cape in order to make sure the emergency plans work, that staff are given experience of carrying out the plans using a practical example and that equipment is tested in a real-world situation.

Motorists will be re-directed along Widney Road and Four Ashes Lane once the Road closure (Mill Lane and junction of Slater Road to Mill Lane junction of Winster Avenue) is in force.
