A CHARITY auction to raise money for the Chernobyl Children’s Project has raised over £5,000.

The Ladies Lunch event, held at the Forest Hotel in Dorridge, featured a vast array of fabulous prizes all kindly fonated by friends and supporters of the cause.

But the big hit of the afternoon was MasterChef 2014 runner-up Jack Lucas, who grew up in Dorridge.

Jack offered his cooking services for a night – and his culinary skills saw the bids coming in thick and fast.

The bidding began with a sealed bid of £1,000 and rose to an incredible £2,500 and took the overall figure for the day to £5,120.

Kath Ruane, Solihull Group Co-ordinator for the charity said: “Firstly thank you so much to Cath McElholm and Gill Tillman who organised a fantastic Ladies Lunch.

“Also many thanks to Tracy Perkins and her team at the Forest Hotel who did a fantastic job, with lovely food and excellent service.”

She added: “A huge thank you to Jack for agreeing to auction his amazing skills for an evening, well done to everyone involved and thank you to all who supported or donated.

“The money raised will not only help with the children coming to Solihull for a recuperative holiday in four weeks’ time, but also with ongoing projects in Belarus.”
