Man to appear before magistrates for failing to stop after Solihull crash

A MAN who failed to stop for officers after a crash which left an elderly man hospitalised will appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today (Friday).

Mahboob Hussain, 23, of Somerville Road, Small Heath, was arrested in Solihull and has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and for driving while disqualified and without insurance.

A car being driven suspiciously, on Tile Cross Road in Solihull, was spotted by police just before midnight on Wednesday (28 October).

The white BMW one series initially stopped for officers but then pulled away at speed.




Police followed the vehicle in a short pursuit before it collided with a Ford Mondeo traveling on the Coventry Road near to Wagon Lane.

An 83-year-old man was taken to hospital with head injuries, his condition has been described as stable.


A 21-year-old passenger was also arrested on suspicion of car theft and was later released without charge.
