Man charged over attack on Mormon bishop David Charmbury

A man is appearing in court today charged in connection with the attack on Mormon bishop David Charmbury last weekend.

Harley Heyes, 36 of Bluebell Drive, Chelmsley Wood, is charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent, taking a vehicle by force and having no insurance.

He will appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today.

Mr Charmbury, aged 45, was attacked as he opened up his church in Clopton Crescent at around 9am on Sunday, August 16.




His Mazda CX5 Sport car was stolen in the incident, before being found nearby a short time later.

The father-of-two suffered was found in the road by a passer-by suffering serious head injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
