DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Solihull over the weekend.

Police were called to the car park behind the Arden Hall Cricket Club in Water Orton at around 11.30pm on Saturday,  November 21 where a man was found unconscious.

The 41-year-old was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with serious head injuries where he remains in a critical condition.

Officers investigating the assault continue to trawl CCTV for any clues into the attack and are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield, from Solihull’s Violent Crime Team, said: “It is understood a large number of people were at a private event at the cricket club and there will be witnesses to what took place.

“We would like to speak to anyone who attended the event and in particular anyone who is a witness to events leading to the victim’s injuries, or who has any other information which would assist the investigation.”

Anyone with information is urged to call West Midlands Police on 101 or leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
