A PROUD pooch from Hockley Heath scooped the coveted Best of Breed award at Crufts.

Fabien the 18-month-old long-haired Chihuahua beat off competition from fellow Chihuahuas to leave his owner, Sharon Baker beaming with pride.

Sharon, 47, said it had been a dream of hers for a long time so she was really proud to have achieved it.

She added Crufts was as big as it got in the dog world so it was an honour to be at the 125th anniversary of the competition.

“I have been working towards it for the past three years so I am over the moon really,” she said.

“Being so young Fabien seemed quite nervous before hand but I think he enjoys it really.

“If he didn’t enjoy it I wouldn’t make him perform.

“We have put a lot of work into getting here and doing this, it I a constant daily regime of grooming and I have devoted a lot of my time into this so I am glad it has paid off.”
