A FORMER Solihull College and University Centre student has successfully completed a full marathon on roller skates, just days before her appearance in the final of Miss Birmingham 2016.

Nineteen-year-old Paige Aitken, who studied sport and exercise science at the college from 2012 to 2015, raised over £200 for her chosen charity following the marathon skate.

The Fordbridge resident added the funds to Beauty With A Purpose – a worldwide charity which provides aid to disadvantaged children all over the world.

Now a sales assistant, Paige completed the marathon on Sunday in just over two hours.

The teenager entered the Miss Birmingham competition in 2015 and finished in the top 12 as well as being crowned Miss Eco.

However this year Paige is determined to increase her finishing position and explained she is determined to raise a big total for the charity.

She said: “I want to show people that you can do anything you put your mind to.

“I want to be able to work with people to improve their lives.

“The competition isn’t all about beauty and looks, there’s a lot more to it with fundraising being one of those things.”

The final for this years Miss Birmingham event is on Sunday (March 20).
