Death of Solihull mum after Acocks Green crash leaves questions

THE DEATH of a Solihull mother who died after being hit by a car in Acocks Green just two day after Christmas has left her family ‘shocked’ by the sudden loss.

Pedestrian Ilona Ford was hit by a Ford Focus on Olton Boulevard East at 7.15am on Tuesday (December 29).

The 41-year-old from Sparkbrook was taken to hospital but sadly died from her injuries.

Ilona’s family have paid tribute to her – they said the mother-of-two was born in Birmingham and was very proud of her children and her roots.

“Her family and friends have been very shocked by her sudden death and would welcome any information that could help them understand more about what happened two days after Christmas at the junction of Gospel Lane and Olton Boulevard East when she was fatally injured by being hit by a car,” they added.

PC Chris Ridge said the driver of the car stopped at the scene and was assisting their investigation but they also wanted to hear from any witnesses to help them understand the full circumstances of her death.

Ilona’s daughter Ally Page has also made a personal plea on Facebook, which has been shared almost 3,500 times, for information from anyone who saw her mum in the hours leading up to her death.

The post said: “We are trying our best to find out where she had been the night before and how she ended up there.

“She was found soaking wet and it has been raining that night so she may have been walking round for a while.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101.
