Community groups benefit from Heart of England cash injection

OVER 50 community charities and groups across Solihull, Coventry and the wider West Midlands have benefited from the Heart of England’s latest round of grants.

Equestrian centres, sea cadets, elderly support groups and theatre clubs are among the latest community projects to have received support from the regional grant giving charity.

The grants, ranging from £500 to £2,000, were handed out by the foundation last month via funds it manages for a range of organisations.

The money will allow groups to provide communities in the region with dance sessions, counselling services, horticultural programmes, computer lessons and WWI themed theatre projects.

Various sports clubs are also set to benefit – including a Solihull football club which has received provisions to purchase new kit and training equipment.

Tina Costello, director at the Heart of England Community Foundation said: “A total of 49 community groups have received funding.

“Every penny raised in a specific area stays in that area and supports people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds.”

Now in its 21st year, the foundation works with a variety of donor to provide funding and support at a grassroots level for local organisations which are under the radar of national funders.
