Community Ambulance Station may be in the pipeline

PLANS are in the pipeline for a Community Ambulance Station (CAS) to be opened in Marston Green.

The developers Building Design Group handed over plans to change offices and a meeting room in Chapel Studios in Coleshill Road into an ambulance response centre which will provide staff with a base to respond from on behalf of West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS).

In documents submitted to Solihull Council it is revealed there will be a kitchenette and a shower facility added to the Pinewood Business Park office which will be used by ambulance staff.

WMAS said the CAS is part of the Make Ready project which has seen the creation of new ambulance fleet preparation and maintenance hubs around the region, and smaller dedicated Community Ambulance Stations.

There will be a community paramedic scheme, whereby a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle will be stationed 24 hours a day seven days a week and there will also be parking for a second ambulance vehicle based at the site.

A spokesperson for WMAS said: “This is designed to improve the speed of response to patients in the area.

“If approved, work on the building would start with the intention of it being up and running within 8 weeks.”
