A BUDDING musician is hoping the popularity of his latest single can catapult him to fame and fortune after receiving an unexpected surprise while checking the iTunes charts.

Sebastian Tree was scrolling through his phone in the hope his latest single ‘Worry’ would reach the iTunes charts and sit in the top 200.

However he was left shocked when ‘Worry’ was nestled between Ed Sheeran’s track ‘Thinking Out Loud’ and Hozier’s ‘Take Me To Church’.

The 32-year-old, who was born in Solihull but now lives in Alcester, is now aiming to use his latest boost to generate further success across the pond in North America.

Sebastian will visit some of America and Canada’s largest cities at the start of next year, and he’s already looking to target keen NHL fans during his tour.

Talking to The Observer about how he got into music, Sebastian explained he was always surrounded by beats from a young age as his father – from whom he took inspiration – played in a band.

He added: “I wanted to pursue music so I teamed up with a producer from Worcestershire and we created an EP.

“We both loved the final product so decided to push the EP hard – from there it snowballed and now I’m getting ready to tour America.

“The plan is to perform a large North America ice hockey tour, the sport is huge out there and the fans are very passionate.

“If I can break into that fan group that would be huge for me, though primarily I’m going out there to enjoy myself.”

The former Langley School student puts the success of his latest track down to its catchy rhythm and dramatic video – which pictures Sebastian in a bath.

With BBC Radio Two already planning to play his track, his success comes on the back of four years living abroad – where he performed in bars, clubs and even on the street.

He said: “I’ve worked abroad for the past four years touring places including Africa, America, Australia – my following on Twitter has helped with my popularity in these countries.

“The stuff I do varies, one day I’ll be busking, the next day I’ll be performing in a bouncing bar and other days my gigs could be flat.

“My highlight so far without doubt was performing to a sold out audience at Birmingham Town Hall – I was supporting an act but to feel the rush was incredible.”

Sebastian’s first EP is expected to be released at the end of October.
