ALIENS, MARTIANS and spaceships touched down in St Alphege’s Junior School on June 10 for the launch of Jo Franklin’s new children’s book – Help! I’m an Alien.

The planet-fanatic pupils pitched ideas on way to travel to space and debated what it would be like to have alien friends.

The year four pupils also quizzed Jo on her life as an author and found out what inspired her to write the book.

The laugh-out-loud book tells the story of Daniel – who finds out he was kindly adopted as an alien – and his plan to return back to his alien home.

Solihull Children’s Book Group chair, Phyllis Gaunt said: “The children had a great time with Jo and had lots of questions about being a writer – and aliens!

“Author visits are a wonderful way to inspire children to read and to love books and we were delighted to set this up.”
