REVIEW: Missoula Solihull offers the perfect Cocktail Masterclass

GREAT MUSIC, lively atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic food.

Just a few words to summarise to Missoula in Solihull who launched their new food menu last week – and it’s already proving to be a hit with the locals.

Observer reporter Shaun Reynolds spent the night at the venue to see what all the hype is about this welcoming bar in the heart of Solihull.

Myself and my good friend Pepe were invited along to try out the ‘Cocktail Masterclass’ option available to visitors to Missoula in Solihull.

Greeted with a glass of Prosecco on arrival – orange juice for the drivers – we were quickly shown to our table and took order for our first meal.

Left fighting over who was going to order the 10oz steak with crispy curly fries and salad, it was unfortunately me that lost the game of rock, paper, scissors – though I was still left with a succulent steak salad that invaded every tastebud possible.

After ordering, staff member Elisha took us into the corner of the bar to put us through our paces in cocktail making.

Quite fancying myself at the ‘art’, it turned out to be the total opposite – I think Elisha’s job may be safe for now.

With prosecco, limes, soda water and ice plastered over the table, Elisha was kind enough to offer myself her drink which had a little less mint than my attempt, which didn’t taste the best.

Elisha’s interaction was spot on, it was only a commitment to beat Pepe in making the quickest cocktail that distracted me from following her step by step instructions.

We later slowed down the pace and made the most beautiful martinis featuring cranberry juice to add a splash of colour.

Between the education in making cocktails we ate our main and dessert with a mix of modern, 90s and 80s tunes coming from all four corners of the bar.

In short, Missoula is a fine example of what a bar should contain.

Swift service, interaction, good times and good music!
