BOXING legend Floyd Mayweather Jr will make a special visit to Solihull on Friday (February 12, 7pm) to host an exclusive sporting dinner titled ‘An Evening with Floyd Mayweather’.

Following an astonishing record which saw the 38-year-old win 49 fights – 26 by knockout – out of 49 – the five-division world champion will host the event at the Vox conference centre, situated within Resorts World, Birmingham.

The event will be Mayweather’s only appearance in the Midlands, giving fans a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet their idol.

Floyd is expected to talk about his incredible fighting career, take part in a Q&A session and pose for photographs with his Midlands fans.

Ranked as the fifth greatest pound for pound fighter in boxing history, Mayweather will be joined by local boxing legend – and now BBC boxing correspondent – Richie Woodhall.

James Elston, sales director at the Vox, said: “We look forward to welcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr to Birmingham next month and once again hosting an international star at one of our venues.

“Being able to be part of giving fans the opportunity to meet their heroes is something we are delighted to be part of.

“We will do everything to ensure they have a great night from the moment they enter through the doors.”

The evening is co-promoted by former Staffordshire heavyweights Scott Murray, Carl Cato and Spencer Brown.

Scott said: “For us the Vox is the perfect location – it made complete sense to bring this event to the Vox.

“We were not only impressed with the state of the art facilities but the professional staff and their ability to hold a major event such as our Mayweather show.

“Floyd Mayweather is special and you wouldn’t believe the hard work that has gone on behind the scenes to get him here.

“We are really excited about this night and a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet the greatest world champion of our time.”

Tickets for the event start at £99 for the basic bronze category then advance to £299 for silver – which includes a meal and photo with Floyd – and £550 for the VIP package.
